This study examined the relationship between e-marketing and the development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Cross River State, Nigeria. The research specifically investigated the impact of social media marketing, email marketing, and search engine optimization on SME performance indicators including sales growth, market reach expansion, and customer retention. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected from 384 SME owners and managers across Calabar, Ogoja, and Ikom through structured questionnaires. Results from multiple regression analysis revealed that social media marketing (β = 0.487, p < 0.001), email marketing (β = 0.312, p < 0.001), and search engine optimization (β = 0.256, p < 0.001) significantly predicted SME development outcomes. The study found that 68.2% of SMEs experienced increased sales growth, 72.4% achieved expanded market reach, and 61.8% improved customer retention through e-marketing adoption. However, challenges including inadequate digital infrastructure, limited technical expertise, and financial constraints hindered optimal emarketing utilization. The study concluded that e-marketing serves as a critical catalyst for SME development in Cross River State and recommended government investment in digital infrastructure, capacity building programs, and policy frameworks supporting digital entrepreneurship.
